2012 – Solo Cabernet Sauvignon

In 1968, Harry See planted the Silverado Vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon. Over the next two decades with careful vine selection and cultivation, the Silverado Clone emerged becoming the only Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon designated as a “Heritage Clone”, by the University of California, Davis. Each year, we honor this select clone designation with SOLO.

Vintage Notes

Textbook conditions saw near-ideal spring bud break, steady flowering, even fruit set, and a lengthy stretch of warm days and cool and often foggy nights during the long summer months. Late and light rains held off until grapes found optimal ripeness, bringing exceptional quality with a smooth balance of acids and sugars. This vintage, while as much as 30% higher than the past two years’ smaller crops, is on par with near-normal quantity.

Tasting Notes

Aromas of dried fruits, flowers, and hints of anise, toasty oak, and baking spices that carry over to the palate. Red fruit compote and plum flavors combine with savory and rich tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and espresso. Balanced and harmonious with a soft mouthfeel and a lengthy, fine-grained finish. This is the perfect age to enjoy this elegant, full-bodied Cabernet.
